ELKMONT CLOSES OUT 2013 SEASON

Both the Red Devils and the Lady Devils lost in the area tournaments this week.  This finishes up the season and many of these athletes are already on the softball and baseball diamonds today getting ready for opening day later this month.

Area Tournament Results:

West Morgan vs Elkmont — Elkmont's plan to stifle West Morgan's dynamic Brandon Roberts was, for the most part, a success in the opening round of the Class 3A, Area 15 tournament.
Unfortunately for the Red Devils, the Rebels aren't a one-man show.

With Elkmont's double-team limiting Roberts to an uncharacteristically low 10 points, the Rebels got double-figure efforts from three other players in a 70-44 victory that advanced the host team to Monday's championship game against Madison Academy.

Using a combination of double-team pressure and a stingy box-and-one defense, Elkmont kept the high-scoring Roberts in check for most of the game. Without their leading scorer's usual production rolling in, the Rebels got 16 points and six assists from Grant Workman and 11 points from J.T. Kirby. Dustin Morgan added 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Bryant Wales had a game-high 24 points in the loss for Elkmont.
