The Elkmont Men's Basketball team attended a team camp at Jackson, Tennessee last week.
Garth Garris, our new principal - old
basketball coach, got another chance to coach high school ball before he
retires his whistle. The boys were scheduled six games in two days.
Wednesday, Elkmont went 2-1
Tipton - we got a win in the first game, 34 to 30
Jackson Christian - our second win, 47 to 44. Beat them in overtime
Sacred Heart High School - our first loss, 49 to 47
Thursday, Elkmont split with 2 -2
Madison - another win for the Red Devils, 51 to 47
Hickman - makes Elkmont's fourth win, 32 to 24
Brighton - Red Devils lose 47 to 35
University of Jackson High School - finished the last game with a loss, 31 to 27
The varsity sports are having their
June summer play dates. The sports seasons overlap to such an extent
that the multiple sport athlete doesn't have any time to practice before
the next sport so the June practice dates are crucial to help the
players learn how to play together.
Elkmont men's basketball has been busy.
The Varsity played 3 games Tuesday at Clements and went 1-2 beating
Lexington and losing to Clements and Phil Campbell (no blow outs though)
and JV beat Clements. Thursday they played at Lexington and again
Varsity went 1-2 beating Central Florence and losing to Colbert Co and
Lexington.
JV also went 1-2 beating Lexington and
losing to Colbert County and Central Florence. Again, all games were
close games. The team leaves today for team camp in Jackson, Tennessee.
