ELKMONT RED DEVILS IN KENTUCKY

The Elkmont Red Devils traveled to Harlan County, Kentucky last weekend to play in a Christmas tournament. One of the best ways to improve is to play in different conditions and places which helps players focus and perform regardless of the situation.
The Red Devils didn't win but they did gain valuable experience that will help them as their season continues.

Thoughts from Elkmont Hoops' Roving Reporter: Besides a trip to Maine this summer, it was one of the prettiest drives I have seen.  Harlan County High School campus was amazing.
There wasn't a lot of development in this part of the eastern Kentucky mountains so there wasn't much there to do.
If all our players had been able to play, we could have beat the Harlan City team. It was a heated rivalry between the city and the county teams and it is an understatement to say that they don't like each other.

The officiating in Kentucky was different than we were used to here in Northern Alabama.  The referees called a lot more fouls then what our team normally sees.

The fan turnout was surprising, neither teams had many fans there. We had more then any of other teams.  The Red Devils traveled to Cracker Barrel in Middlesboro, Kentucky after the game.
