ELKMONT VS TANNER

The Decatur Daily has been covering the Limestone County Tournament.  The Elkmont Red Devils surprised the favored West Limestone Wildcats to gain a berth in the semi-finals.  They played the Tanner Rattlers Friday.  The Red Devils had a lead going into the fourth quarter but weren't able to hold it.  The  Rattlers sidewinded past Elkmont, 57-49.  You can still get a hard copy of Saturday's article.

Highlights:
A coveted spot in the Limestone County Tournament finals was on the line. And standing in the way: An upset-minded Elkmont team in the midst of playing the tournament’s Cinderella story. In the tournament, Elkmont already had pulled off a significant upset, beating West Limestone on Tuesday in the opening round. The Red Devils came close to adding another upset to the resume.

The Red Devils came close to adding another upset to the resume.  Jordan Nelson and Eli Hobbs did their best to play Batman and Robin as the game’s heroes. The Elkmont guards combined for 28 points as the Red Devils led most of the game. But midway into the fourth period, Tanner’s pressure defense and length around the basket took its toll. Tanner rallied from behind to top Elkmont 57-49.
