Tanner 55, West Limestone 54 - Overtime
The Tanner Rattlers made it back to the boys championship game of the Limestone County Tournament, but it wasn’t easy. The West Limestone Wildcats pushed the two-time defending champion to the wall with an overtime thriller.
Tanner had led all the
way into the fourth quarter. West tied the game at 47 with just 56
seconds left in regulation. The Wildcats had the ball with 32 seconds
left and looked to hit a winning shot at the buzzer, but the attempt
missed.
In overtime, Tanner
scored first and held the lead until 50 seconds were left when Grant
Baugher tied it at 52. Fletcher hit a free throw to put Tanner up by
one. West Limestone went up 54-53 on Baugher’s two free throws with
seven seconds left. Jonathan Fletcherhit the
game-winning shot on a layup following a full-court drive. He scored
with 1.4 seconds left in overtime. He was fouled on the play and missed
the free throw. West Limestone’s long shot from three-quarters length of
the floor missed.
