Our middle school Red Devils brought home their first trophy of the season. They are off to great start this season. They swept through Athens Bible School 49-30 in the first game. Moving on to the semi-finals against East Limestone, the Red Devils burned the Indians with a 36-24 win. The Tanner Rattlers were the only team left between Elkmont and some hardware.
In a tied game with seconds left in the fourth quarter, Tanner threw the ball in at half court. The Rattlers were working against the Elkmont 2-3 zone. As it went to the corner, Tanner committed the sin of throwing across the zone. Rowe Allen stole the ball and went the length of the court for a pull up basket to put the Red Devils ahead with less than 4 seconds left, 28-26. The Rattlers weren't able to score before the horn sounded to stop the Elkmont win.
The middle school teams will be playing West Limestone in the New Gym tonight. The girls will tipoff at 5 pm.
