The Decatur Daily newspaper has a contest each week recognizing the players that have outstanding performances on the basketball court. It is called the Fans' Players of the Week. The nominees are voted on throughout the week. One young woman and man are chosen by the highest votes. The voting continued to Tuesday, December 12. Our Haven Kirby was selected as the Player of the Week.
The
junior guard scored in double figures in three games last week,
including 28 points in a win over Clements. "She leads us in scoring,
assists and steals,” Coach Sam Wallace said. “She sets the tempo of the
game with her energy. She's very difficult to guard because of her
quickness, but she is a team kid. Very unselfish.”
