VARSITY RED DEVILS OPEN WITH WIN OVER NEW HOPE - 61 to 38

Last night's win over New Hope was a lot of fun to watch; Lots of running, fast breaks and intensity.  It was a actually a spectator sport again.  For the most part, modern basketball is a boring, half court, low scoring game that ranks down on the excitement scale.   The New Hope pep band and student section created a great, loud and intense atmosphere unlike the majority of Alabama High School games.  The Red Devils were rusty since most of them haven't touched a basketball in 4 months but kicked it into gear the second quarter and cruised to an easy win.  Looking forward to the Thanksgiving tournament.  Elkmont will be playing against some tough teams from out of state that will give them a great week of practice  that will help them when they start area play Nov. 29 vs Clements.  Look for the Dust Devil's take on the game later this evening
