COUNTY TOURNAMENT OPEN WITH ELKMONT OVERTIME THRILLER

EAST LIMESTONE — With the score tied in overtime, it was never in doubt who would take the final shot for Elkmont Monday in the first round of the Limestone County Tournament. Dan Logan had already scored 13 points in the fourth quarter and overtime for the Red Devils. When given the opportunity to take the game’s final shot, Logan didn’t hesitate. The senior drained a three-pointer with three seconds left on the clock to give Elkmont a 63-60 overtime win over Ardmore.

The win didn’t come without a fight from Ardmore, which led 55-49 late in the fourth quarter before Elkmont went on a 6-0 to close out the game and force overtime. Logan finished with a game-high 26 points. Cole Glass scored 16 points while Skylar Gant added eight points in the win.

It was a team effort from Ardmore which had five players score at least eight points in the loss. Allen Noblitt led Ardmore with 13 points while Robbie Stevenson scored 12. Ben Hargove scored nine and Jackson Blair and Blake Magnussson each contributed eight points in a losing effort.

Elkmont (14-8) advanced to play Tanner (18-1) Thursday in the semifinals.
